Chenega Corporation Senior VP of Human Resources in Anchorage, Alaska

TheSenior Vice President of Human Resourcesplans and directs all aspects of the organization’s human resources strategies and objectives. Manages programs and projects which support overall HR policies and goals. Assures that the Company HR activities are in compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. Has knowledge and experience with Government Contracting and the 8(a) program. Provides leadership, advice and support to Chenega Corporation and all subsidiaries’ management and employees. Supports the Shareholders and facilitates the Shareholder Hire program along with other shareholder efforts related to training and employment.

TheSenior Vice President of Human Resourcesis an Anchorage, Alaska based position and will report to the President & CEO.

Leadership

  • Build and maintain a high performing team by hiring the best HR talent, defining goals that are aligned with the company’s goals, clearly outlining key responsibilities and expectations, identifying developmental needs, providing regular structured feedback, providing rewards and recognition, coaching and mentoring, maintaining high performance and effectively dealing with identified non-performance

  • Lead the strategic human resources planning process

  • Develop and manage the departmental budget

  • Lead in the continued development and delivery of training programs to address staff skill needs

Executive Team/Strategy

  • Participate in strategic planning including the mission, vision, values, objectives, strategies, policies/procedures, and associated initiatives

  • Collaborate with the Executive Team on human capital deployment to establish responsibilities and procedures for attaining strategic objectives

  • Influence leadership by establishing credibility, trust, and rapport throughout the organization to be an effective listener and problem solver of business and people issues

  • Apprise the company of strategic human resources and organization development initiative

  • Communicate and provide support of HR initiatives at Chenega’s divisional level

Talent Acquisition

  • Develop talent acquisition strategies and implementation plans to attract internal and external talent

  • Ensure that appropriate systems are in place to proactively develop a robust talent pipeline

  • Ensure that the very best interviewing practices are used and maintained throughout the company at all times

  • Manage and assess HR information systems and processes used for recruiting, onboarding, etc.

  • Support the Corporate Staffing Program Manager and the recruiting function to assure timely and effective tools, vendors, and practices

Compensation and Benefits

  • Ensure that progressive and competitive compensation and benefits programs are in place that motivate and incentivize employee performance to reach organizational goals

  • Ensure that all compensation and benefits programs, policies and procedures serve the relevant needs of all employees while adhering to legal compliance and best practices

  • Responsible for overall liaison with outside vendors

Talent Management & Employee Relations

  • Direct the development of talent management strategies and implementation plans to retain internal talent

  • Ensure that the Employee Relations team partners with and consults with managers, supervisors and employees to provide strategic HR expertise in the following areas: employee relations, performance management, policy development and administration, and organizational effectiveness

  • Direct the development of a variety of human resources policies and practices

  • Drive process improvements and overall efficiencies in talent practices

Other

  • Function as a strategic business advisor to the executive/senior management of each business regarding key organizational and management issues

  • Serve as the designated Affirmative Action Officer

  • Serve as a member of the Ethics Committee

  • Travel required up to 25% of the time

Non-Essential Duties:

  • Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Supervises the Corporate office’s human resources department staff

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of computer systems, specifically HR related systems and applications

  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization and establish rapport with executive team, employees and strategic business units

  • Knowledge of government contracting and the 8(a) program

  • Knowledge of budget management

Minimum Qualifications:(To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably with a focus on Human Resources or related field

  • 10 years of HR experience with demonstrated competence in several HR functional areas and leading others

  • Professional HR Certification Required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree

  • Prior Director-level experience with a government services firm with annual revenues in excess of $200 million and more than 1,000 employees preferred

  • Experience working with Board of Directors and Shareholders preferred

  • Experience with 8(a) SBA programs preferred

  • Secret Clearance preferred
