Summary:

Time Solutions is seeking a Biosafety Specialistto provide laboratory biosafety expertise to support training products and services under CDC's Center for Surveillance, Epidemiology, and Laboratory Services (CSELS) and the Laboratory Training Team (LTT). The Laboratory Training Team (LTT) is the primary tool CDC has to develop interactive accredited courses and conferences. The Laboratory Training team focuses on new techniques and methodologies for continuing education activities, and critical workforce development for public health and healthcare professionals.

Provide laboratory biosafety expertise for instructional designers tasked with creating biosafety training courses.

Review all biosafety training storyboards produced for technical accuracy and regulatory compliance.

Develop real-world laboratory biosafety scenarios for use in training courses and skill assessments.

Through interactions and interviews with CDC SMEs, extract agency specific laboratory biosafety information needed to make biosafety courses relevant to agency personnel.

Assist course designers with the extraction of agency-specific biosafety information needed to make courses relevant to agency personnel, including answering technical questions.

Assist in the instruction of classroom training courses.

Oversee video shoots to ensure technical accuracy and regulatory compliance for courses.

Develop and deliver scripts for biosafety training videos that are technically accurate and regulatory compliant for courses and make CDC recommended corrections.

Outline real-world scenarios and examples for use in biosafety training courses (ex: handling lab spills) skill and competency assessment scenarios related to the biosafety curriculum.

Assist Lectora instructional designers in the development of scenario logic trees to aid in programming of the scenario for courses.

Review programmed scenarios for accuracy for courses.

Provide skill and competency assessment scenarios related to the courses.

Review all courses produced by LLT for laboratory safety. Provide technical review for accuracy and regulatory compliance at intermediate course design stages such as storyboard and final products for courses.

Assist in determining appropriate corrections at storyboard review phase and after final course pilot testing for courses.

Develop and deliver timelines for projects.

Minimum Qualifications:(To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)

BA/BS degree and minimum of four (4) years of related experience in a similar setting.

Registered Biosafety Professional (RBP) or Certified Biological Safety Professional (CBSP)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Extensive knowledge of laboratory biosafety at the BSL-2 and BSL-3 levels, general laboratory safety, laboratory biosafety regulatory requirements, as well as experience preparing and delivering laboratory biosafety training.

Ability to provide input and review of all messages and materials to assure accuracy and consistency of the messages, while also making sure that plain language and risk communications principles are implemented.

Ability to write clearly and informatively; edit work for spelling and grammar; vary writing style to meet needs; present numerical data effectively; read and interpret written information.

Ability to develop strategies to achieve organizational goals and adapt strategy to changing conditions.

Ability to prioritize and plan work activities; use time efficiently; plan for additional resources; set goals and objectives; develop realistic action plans.

Skilled at writing reports, proposals, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Excellent oral presentations skills; must be able to present information and respond to questions.
