Summary:The Urgent Care Physician Assistant shall perform services and support compatible with the medical facilities operating capacity and equipment. The HCP shall provide primary or specialty medical care with the cognizance or supervision of a physician. Initiates consultation requests to other health professionals to provide more comprehensive patient management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:(Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position)

· The HCP shall be responsible for providing guidance and/or consult other personnel assigned to healthcare team on preventive medicine programs and other appropriate medical activities and function.

· Provides services by collecting data required for diagnosis and performing procedures and services.

· Analyzes and interprets data, formulates problem lists, and established plans for solution of clinical problems.

· Obtains and evaluates medical histories, performs physical examinations, performs therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, and orders and interpret laboratory studies, radiographs, electrocardiograms, and other special examinations.

· Collects specimens for pathologic examination.

· Makes entries in patient’s permanent medical records. Accomplishes narrative summaries and other documentation.

· Counsels patients on medical problems, use of drugs, expected effects of treatment, family planning, child care, diet and other therapeutic health maintenance matters.

· The HCP shall be responsible for the coordination of patient care with other members of health care team.

· The HCP shall be responsible for conducting ten (10) peer reviews on a monthly basis within fourteen (14) calendar days of assignment.

Minimum Qualifications:(To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)

· Shall be a graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program and have current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).

· Shall provide appropriate CME documentation to the COR or designated Government representatives within one month after all CME accredited events.

· Shall have and maintain a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. The HCPs working in General Surgery will also need to obtain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification. The HCPs working in UCC will also need to maintain ACLS andPediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).

· Shall have a total of two (2) years’ experience in patient care, with portion of that experience occurring within the last two (2) years in order to qualify for the position.
