Summary:

Chenega Professional

& Technical Services (CPTS) is seeking anAerospace Systems Subject Matter Expert 4to provide support to

NASA - AMES Research Center (ARC) within the Information Technology Services. TheAerospace

Systems Subject Matter Expert 4will support multiple tasks and projects,

which includes working with aerospace systems in the design and evaluation

stages as well as the integration for optimal performance.

Essential Duties

and Responsibilities:(Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities

  • Leads

strategic planning and communication initiatives in Aerospace Systems.

  • Creates

team structure for range support services and meets with clients regularly to

discuss performance, propose initiatives, and establish priorities.

  • Leads

innovation processes and manages innovation technical solutions of interest,

including analyzing trends and market disruptions, searching for emerging new

market opportunities, and setting up and running ideas-generation platforms.

  • Makes

business cases for innovation projects.

  • Creates

and establishes an innovation process, including change management aspects.

  • Manages

project teams in Aerospace Systems developments.

  • Develops

design criteria for aerospace systems, including testing methods, quality

standards, and completion dates.

  • Plans

and conducts experimental, operational, and stress tests on models of aerospace

systems and equipment.

  • Formulates

mathematical models or other methods of computer analysis to develop, evaluate,

or modify design according to customer engineering requirements.

  • Evaluate

systems data and design from inspections and reports for conformance to

engineering principles, customer requirements, and quality standards.

  • Analyzes

complex systems to determine potential for further development, production,

interoperability, compatibility, or usefulness in a particular area, such as aviation.

  • Writes

technical reports and other documentation, such as handbooks and bulletins, for

use by engineering staff, management, and customers.

  • Prepares

publications/reports or presentations summarizing results or conclusions of

human factors engineering activities, such as testing, investigation, or

validation.

  • Works

independently across multiple platforms and applications to understand

dependencies.

  • Responsible

for multiple tasks and projects.

  • Other

duties may be focused in the following areas based on need and/or experience:

  • Aerospace

Systems Engineering – Performing systems modeling, concepts of operation

development, requirements development and review, verification planning and

closure assessment, and overall architecture analysis and data integration

analysis.

  • Aerospace

Human Factors – Plans, conducts, and summarizes studies of flight, airport, and/or

unmanned aerial systems (UAS) simulations. Provides support for human autonomy

research/experiments, including human autonomy teaming, air-ground simulation,

statistical analysis, rebuilding/enhancing simulators.

  • Combat

Systems – Participate in designing, testing and calibrating avionic systems

such as communication panels. Design aircraft integration solutions avionics

aircraft system components and assist in aircraft testing.

Minimum

Qualifications:(To

perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each

  • PhD

Degree in Aerospace Engineering or related engineering or science field

  • Fifteen

(15) years or more of related experience

  • Must

have demonstrated problem solving ability and expertise in 1 (one) or more of

the following areas:

  • Flight

simulation/piloting

  • Advanced

user-interface technology

  • Air

traffic control

  • Rotary

wing or fixed wing flight control system analysis/design

  • Fly-by-wire

actuators

  • Radio-frequency/infrared/electro-optical

(RF/IR/EO) signature tools

  • Real-time

flight operating system concepts

  • Must

be able to obtain required NASA badge.

  • Must

be able to provide a certified Birth Certificate (with state seal), Passport,

or INS Citizenship documents on date of hire (candidate will be sent home if

this paperwork is not provided upon arrival on date of hire).

  • Must

have, and maintain, a valid driver’s license.
