Summary:

Chenega Professional & Technical Services (CPTS) is seeking a Scientist I to support the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER), Office of Surveillance and Epidemiology (OSE). Specifically, the Scientist I will support the Division of Epidemiology.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:(Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position)

  • Provide support for scientific investigations into abuse, misuse, addiction, overdose, and death from prescription drugs related to the regulatory review work of FDA staff.

  • Work shall be conducted in accordance with applicable standard epidemiologic guidelines (e.g., PRISMA for systematic reviews, ICPE Guidelines for Good Pharmacoepidemiology Practices for protocol development and study conduct).

  • Conduct queries to characterize the use and abuse of prescription drugs utilizing FDA data resources.

  • Epidemiologic study design, protocol preparation, development of analyses plans, writing of reports, and manuscripts.

Minimum Qualifications:(To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)

  • Ph.D. in epidemiology and a minimum of one year of experience in pharmacoepidemiology and analysis of data sources that can capture drug misuse, abuse, addiction, overdose, and death (e.g., poison control calls, death certificates, electronic medical records, national survey data).
