Summary:

Chenega Professional & Technical Services (CPTS) is seeking an IT Engineer II to support the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Division of Pharmaceutical Analysis (DPA). The DPA provides analytical chemistry expertise using various advance instrumentation requiring routine maintenance, updates, fixes, and planning when new technology and data systems are implemented. The IT Engineer II will perform these activities and assist DPA's IT Specialist to maintain and implement DPA's lab network and Quality Management Information System (QMiS). The IT Engineer III will work with DPA and OIMT staff to fully implement and enhance the instrument network infrastructure, including network, systems, test and evaluation, reliability and maintainability of instrument controllers, data collection structure, for procedures, reports and backups.

  • Consult with DPA and OIMT IT staff to analyze the network infrastructure and make recommendations of best practice for LAN and WAN as it pertains to data sharing between multiple labs. Recommendations may be given verbally or in writing (ex. email, memo, or presentation). All significant changes or new practices will be subject to DPA’s Change Control Management and FDA OIMT approval channels where applicable.

  • Work with DPA management and Analysts to assess instrument network, hardware and software needs and solutions to data storage and report writing. Information will be submitted to IT Engineer in writing by use of email or service request using SysAid.

  • Coordinate with DPA and OIMT IT staff to determine best practices to ensure IT connections of all instrumentation to instrument server and to verify transfer and archiving of instrumental data.

  • Assist with the maintenance of DPA servers, databases, and operational software to ensure reliable data and minimize network downtime.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field and 9 years of IT-related experience.

  • Experience with VMware 5.5 or higher, Veritas Backup Exec, Veeam Availability Suite, Citrix XenApp and Xen Desktop, SysAid Helpdesk.

  • Four or more years of IT experience relevant to the following laboratory environments:

  • Experience working with Agilent Technologies, Inc. Lab equipment, Agilent Stand-alone Instrument Controllers and AIC servers, Chemstation client software, Agilent OpenLab CDS, ECM, ELN, and BPM.

  • Experience working with Waters Corp. lab equipment and Empower.

  • Experience working with Thermo Fisher Scientific lab equipment, Chromeleon CDS and Xcalibur Data Acquisition and Processing suite.

  • Experience with Agilent MassHunter software suite.

  • Experience with Agilent Lab-Advisor software.
